For teams in US colocation

Private cloud connectivity is already in your building.

One cross-connect to AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, off the public internet. No new carrier, no new build, nothing to rip out.

Is DE-CIX in your building?

DE-CIX runs exchanges in seven US metros and is reachable from data centers across them. At premium enabled sites it runs its own switch; at enabled sites a partner provides the link.

  • New York: Digital Realty 60 Hudson St and 111 8th Ave (DE-CIX New York sites since 2014), QTS Piscataway NJ, NJFX
  • Dallas: Digital Realty 2323 Bryan St, DataBank 400 S Akard, Infomart Dallas, QTS Irving
  • Chicago: Digital Realty 350 E Cermak, 365 Data Centers 427 S LaSalle, QTS Chicago
  • Phoenix, Richmond, Houston, Seattle: [Pull current list from the DE-CIX PoP finder]

Where you are today

Your cloud footprint grew. The network behind it had to keep up.

You built this for good reasons, one project at a time: VPNs, MPLS, point-to-point links and internet paths. Most teams see the same things.

Multicloud outpaces the network

New workloads land in a second or third cloud faster than the connectivity behind them can be planned.

Changes wait on carriers

Adding bandwidth or a cloud path can take weeks inside a larger WAN contract.

Visibility ends at the hand-off

It is hard to see what happens beyond the hand-off point.

The cost of waiting

Every internet-facing path widens the attack surface, and slow changes leave less room to move in an outage.

How it works

One cross-connect, inside the building you already pay for

Your rack, a cross-connect in the same building, DE-CIX, your clouds. No new carrier, no new build.

1

DE-CIX is already in your data center

At premium enabled sites DE-CIX runs its own switch in the building. At enabled sites a data-center or connectivity partner provides the link to DE-CIX.

2

You order one cross-connect

DE-CIX issues a Letter of Authorization (LoA) naming the hand-off point. You order a standard in-building cross-connect from your data-center operator, from your cage or rack to the DE-CIX port. Some buildings waive the monthly cross-connect fee as a tenant amenity, e.g. Infomart Dallas. [Confirm which current partner sites waive fees]

Your sites connect through the data center to DE-CIX, then privately to cloud service providers

One port, many services

On that single access (1G to 400G), turn on DirectCLOUD to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle, Cloud ROUTER for multicloud, MAPS for Microsoft 365, plus peering. All from the portal or API.

Cloud ROUTER connecting multiple clouds

Digital Realty tenants

Through the expanded DE-CIX and Digital Realty partnership, customers at every Digital Realty data center in Chicago, Dallas, New York and Phoenix (20+ US sites) can reach DE-CIX via Digital Realty Metro Connect, even if their building has no DE-CIX switch.

No colo at all?

For cloud-to-cloud traffic, Cloud ROUTER gives you virtual access with no physical presence in a data center.

Cross-connect

A physical cable the data-center operator runs inside the building, from your rack or cage to another tenant's port.

LoA (Letter of Authorization)

A document DE-CIX gives you naming the exact port where your cross-connect lands, so the data center can install it.

Peering

Exchanging traffic directly with other networks at an Internet Exchange instead of routing it through third parties.

What you get

More control over every cloud path

Outcomes first. DirectCLOUD, Cloud ROUTER and Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS) deliver them on one DE-CIX port.

50+ clouds from one port

Private paths to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle, IBM and 50+ others on the DE-CIX Cloud Exchange.

Changes in a day

Change bandwidth up or down, or add a cloud, via portal, API or Terraform. Connections can be opened and closed within a day.

99.99% SLA

Redundancy by design, backed by a 99.99% SLA.

Fewer exposed paths

Traffic stays off the public internet, so there are fewer internet-facing paths to secure.

Start small, next to what already works

Keep your current carrier. Start with one cloud as a test, or as a Plan B path alongside your existing setup.

When it proves itself, add the next cloud on the same port. We are on this journey with you.

Who is DE-CIX?

30 years of keeping networks connected

Founded in Frankfurt in 1995, DE-CIX operates 60+ Internet Exchange locations worldwide. DE-CIX Frankfurt is one of the world's largest Internet Exchanges.

In the US, DE-CIX runs exchanges in New York, Dallas, Chicago, Phoenix, Richmond, Houston and Seattle, linked over a redundant private backbone. DE-CIX New York is the leading neutral exchange on the East Coast, reachable from more data centers than any other North American exchange.

Neutral, with engineers behind every connection

DE-CIX doesn't own the buildings or sell telco circuits, so it isn't tied to any one provider. A real engineering team stands behind the service.

Where teams start

Common first use cases

AI and data workloads

Move large datasets between on-prem and cloud over private, predictable paths.

Cloud ROUTER connecting on-premise equipment to multiple clouds

Multicloud after an acquisition

Bring a new unit's clouds onto one routing layer, without a new carrier project.

Cloud ROUTER joining DirectCLOUD connections between clouds

Resilience and backup path

Add a private path alongside current connectivity as a Plan B for critical apps.

Microsoft 365 performance

MAPS gives an SLA-backed private path to Microsoft 365, Teams and Dynamics.

FAQ

Do I need new hardware?

No. You need a standard in-building cross-connect from your rack to the DE-CIX port.

How long does it take to go live?

[Confirm typical lead time with DE-CIX]

Can I keep my current carrier?

Yes. DE-CIX works alongside what you have today, as an add-on or backup path.

What if my building isn't listed?

You may still reach DE-CIX through a partner or metro access, such as Digital Realty Metro Connect. For cloud-to-cloud traffic, Cloud ROUTER needs no data-center presence.
